According to VentureBeat, “Aglet,” a commercialized blockchain game developed by meta-universe developer Onlife and an online world for “sneaker enthusiasts,” has reached 3.5 million monthly active users.
“Aglet” is built on Web2 and extended to Web 3 by selling NFT, where sneaker enthusiasts will be able to buy cool sneakers that are hard to find in the real world.
“When we announced ‘Aglet’ NFT, it exploded,” said Mullins, CEO of Onlife. “Aglet was number one in the Japanese app charts for two weeks in a row, with 3.5 million monthly active users.”
“Aglet” allows players to buy virtual sneakers or earn points by walking. Similar to “Pokemon Go”, “Aglet” combines virtual world and physical reality and allows players to walk around in the real world to collect rare virtual sneakers.
“Clearly,” Mullins says, “we think revenue growth is coming from the ‘move to earn’ and ‘Walk to earn’ models, which are making games more popular.”
Mullins noted that “Aglet” is thriving. It started as a game, took more than two years to build a community of players, introduced NFT, and eventually rolled out tokens based on players’ actual economic behavior.
“We will continue to focus on NFT as our main business development direction.” Mullins.
Onlife will launch unique tokens before the end of the year.
Onlife raised $4.5 million in Funding in December 2020. Although it didn’t disclose the size of its latest round, the company says it has raised $24 million to date. Onlife’s ultimate mission is to create a more creative and fun world by reconcilating online and offline life.
