Ethereum name service registrations surged 200% due to lower gas prices

ENS domain name registration increased from 11,042 to 29,727 because domain name "000.eth" was purchased with 300 ETH.

Demand for Ethereum domain names increased as ethereum Domain Name Service (ENS) registrations totalled 126,141 in just one week.

The ENS dashboard, a data tracker created by developer Nick Johnson, shows registrations increased from 11,042 to 29,727, a more than 200% increase over the weekend. This happened in the second largest.eth domain sale, "000.eth" was bought on Sunday for 300 Ether (eth) and was worth about $320,000 at the time of sale.

Because of the purchase, ENS 'daily revenue jumped to $684,174 after the sale. Since then, registrations of the.eth domain reached a peak of 34,357 on Monday as the hype around the sale reached its peak. That pushed ENS to the top of information tracker Dapp Radar's seven-day irreplaceable Token (NFT) collection sales chart.

Social media activity around ENS has also reached new highs. According to data from Lunar Crush, an encrypted social tracking platform, interactions with the keyword increased 108.4 percent in seven days.

Gray Glacier hard fork, which delayed the Ethereum Difficulty bomb, went online last Thursday, July 1. According to Tim Beiko of the Ethereum Foundation, the fork was successful and all nodes were synchronized. Since then, the Sepolia Testnet will also conduct merger trials in the coming days as the Ethereum network prepares to move to proof-of-equity consensus.

On the same day as the fork, the price of Ether dropped 5%, pushing 1 ETH to $1,044. The asset fell for four straight days as ether focused investment products saw outflows of nearly $140 million in June.
